As a R&D Project Manager at IMS, you are responsible for leading R&D development projects and the success of these projects. You will lead the internal R&D project team and make sure that by taking the right decisions, the project deliverables will be delivered on time, with the right quality and within budget.

Moreover, you regularly brainstorm with the System Architect about the first designs, which are often in the form of a system or a machine. So you not only coordinate and manage, but also advise and collaborate on the content. A project starts with an extensive introduction and kick-off, after which the client's requirements are clear. You work these out and communicate them to your team members accordingly. From then onwards, you remain closely involved by continually fine-tuning matters.

Especially in R&D projects, proper communication is essential because it is often necessary to adjust goals. While doing this, you also keep commercial project objectives in mind and know how to find the balance between a good result and the investments previously made to achieve this result.

You will work in the R&D team consisting of various Engineers, for example in the field of Mechanics, System & Control and Applied Mathematics. It differs per R&D project what your team exactly looks like, how much budget and time you get from your supervisor and the client, and what the (internal or external) project deadline is.
